sharpenes my knives really good farley quick. light easy to transport on the go. buying the extra angles handles majority of my knives.
I haven’t really put it to the test yet it did put a great edge on my kitchen knives
Excellent service and instruction videos.
I am a knife collector that has collected just about every modern or semi-modern steel and super steel out there. I also have the tile end work sharp sharpener they make and also descent with hand sharpening with manual diamond stones. Rather than ramble on, I will give two examples that impressed me very much. I have both rex45 shaman and re121 sage5 knives and they have prove to be especially challenging to get as sharp as I like ( especially the rex121). I have studied and practiced Ed and tried every trick in the book to get my rex121 to razor sharpness with the perfect amount of bite to the edge but it had eluded me until now. I ordered just the simple $40 sharpener along with the 100/200 diamond stone ( I also ordered all the rest of the fibers stones up the 2,500 grit but they aren’t available yet). Anyway, now my point: I decided to through some diamond lapping fluid on the 500/ceramic stone that comes with the venture portable. I do have my own stops loaded with 5 and 3 micron diamond that I made, but. Aside from that all I used was the venture series portable with the 17 degree angle ( I bout the 20,15 and 25 but have only used the 15 so far but not on these projects) guide. After I finished with about 75 passes ( please realize that rex121 ( and to a lesser extent , rex45) is extremely hard and the other steels like my 3v, 4v, 10v, K390, 15V, 14c28n, LC200N, MagnaCut, DC53, nitroV, s90v, S30V, s110V, etc…require much fewer passes and attention. The result after 500, grit, ceramic and my strip progression was a razor sharpness ( with bite) for both the aforementioned hard REX steels. I am thrilled. It literally took me 10 minutes ( after I verified my angle with sharpie) to accomplish this while watching TV. I did not have to use any more skill or attention than that. I was shocked and now I really only use my WorkSharp to verify my knife’s angle before I sharpen with the venture. Just so I don’t seem like a work sharp badger, it does work very well and the new reverse tanto RMX in CPM 3V with automatic option is probably one of my top 5 favorite work knives. Amazing !!!!!
This is my second set and a testament to wicked edges warranty. My first set came with 800 grit stones in place of the 3000 so I emailed customer service with a photo and the next day they sent a new set under warranty. Now I have these which I pair with the 6 µm film for mirror progression and I have an extra 800 grit that I use for touchup on my working blades.
