So Leo,
Is this where I put the quote:
"That is the sort of thing up with which I will not put"?

Hi Mike

If you are Winston Churchill you can say almost anything and people will quote you. I never understood what people have against dangling a participle on occasion! LOL!

From my understanding, it was never really a "rule" , though it had its share of followers.

Winny did have a certain way with words.

At a party Winston was well into his cups. Lady Astor was critical and said so.

"Winston you are drunk!"

Winston replied, " Madame you are ugly, but in the morning I will be sober."

Lady Astor said indignantly," Winston if you were my husband, I would poison your tea!"

Winston replied merrily," Madame, if I were your husband, I would drink it!"

I can't help but wonder if he meant that man was a rational animal due the the completely crazy stuff we can rationalize...

Hee,hee, hee! Nice play on words Gary!
Bertrand is one of my heroes, although my math skills stink, I at least could follow his philosophical stuff. Philosophy and Ancient History of the Middle East were my majors at university, so Bertrand for the one and Henri Frankfort for the other.

Unfortunately not much has changed in the middle east except for the weapons used.
