Re: Case for Wicked Edge
I actually have the propack 2 and it will fit in the pelican 1600 case. The case is a bit large but in my opinion worth protecting my baby.

Re: Tape for ceramic stones
I just had the exact same problem. Clay I sent you an email but I haven't yet to get mine wet. I took it out of the box that i keep all my stones in and it just fell off. My sharpening had to wait. But on a positive note i received the updated arms and I'm super stoked about it!

Re: Pro pack II set screws
Hey guys thought I would just hop on this convo as well. I purchased the upgraded arms and have been super stoked on them. I noticed as well that the set screws on my upgrades were flat and smaller which I thought was odd. I have been having a bit of an issue with them loosening as I sharpen which can be a bit frustrating. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place online that I could purchase a screw with a tapered end to eliminate this from happening. I agree that Clay is most likely feeling the same frustrations that we are if not more. Ohh the beauty of growing pains!

Re: your unboxing experience?
I thought I would share my wicked edge experience! I received my wicked edge pp2 upgrades last night after 2 months of waiting. As I expected it was totally worth it. I only had a chance to sharpen two knives but the arms are smooth as butter and the ability to precisely control the degrees of the paddles are fantastic. I feel that clay and company are constantly resetting the bar for the sharpening industry. Thank you guys so much for all that you have done and continue to do. I am excited to be a continually stoked customer. Thanks!!!!

Re: new arms
You do have to pay extra for the new arms as mentioned above. I must say that you are still getting an amazing product that is totally worth your money. Clay and his team makes a great product and is well worth every penny!

Re: new arms
I am going to second that! I didn't realize I would start such a large discussion due to my lack of patience. But I must say that Clay and all others involved are amazing and I am so thankful for everything they do. It's rare to have a company that cares about their product and customers so much. I intend to continue to support wicked edge and enjoy all the amazing products they have to offer. I am soooo excited for the new arms and it will be a treat to get them. Thanks all!

Re: new arms
Sorry to barge in off topic! I placed an order about two weeks ago for the new arms and have yet to be charged for them or hear anything about it. I have placed two phone calls along with an email over the past week inquiring about the status and have yet to hear anything back from anyone which I feel is quite uncommon. Did anyone else run into similar problems? Maybe I need to be more patient?

Re: Ceramic Paddles
I know it's been a while since this topic was brought up but I thought it only fair to update on my ceramics use. Clay was absolutely correct that once broken in the stones work great. I took mine to some 600 grit sand paper to lap them flat and have been using them with great results since. It took a bit for them to be broken in but now I love them. The only thing I have to be careful of is if I tilt them to the side the little pockets will make a nasty sound and sometimes micro chip the blade. To fix this issue I just take my time. I also purchased the micro ceramics and they are amazing as well! I have had no issues with them and now regularly get mirror edge finishes.

Re: Storage for Wicked Edge
Very nicely done paul! Looks awesome!
I was thinking about purchasing a pelcian 1600 case for my WEPS. I have it all drawn out with how everything will fit and I think it will be perfect. However I am not sure if it will fit once I put the riser on it that isn't out yet. Clay I was wondering if you could tell me the height of the clamp with the riser attachment that will be coming out.
Thanks guys and as always you are all the best!

The Straw Mod
Hey Everyone!
I recently picked up some subway straws to attempt to take some of the play out of the rods to the WEPS. They are fantastic! However I am consistently running into a problem with them coming off the rods. I have tried to superglue them on the rods as well and use zip ties. I was hoping someone out there has a solution to this problem!
Thanks everyone in advance for all the amazing wisdom. Everyone on here rocks.

Re: Ceramic Paddles
Thanks everyone so far for all the great responses.
I have found my biggest issues is that there is pitting on the sides of the stones which makes the edges inconsistent. If I run my fingernail up and down the side of the ceramics (especially the 1200, not so much the 1600) my nail catches all along the edge. I am pretty sure this is causing microchipping in my blade. It was mentioned that the pitting doesn't affect the surface because the rest of the area is flat which makes sense but my concern is when I move the paddles just a little bit so they are not flush when sharpening and it tears up the edge.
Has anyone else run into a similar problem? I have also sharpened about 10 knives so far and there is not better results.
THANKS!

Re: Ceramic Paddles
I just washed my stones and gave them a bit of rubbing and still to my dismay they are causing chipping in my blades, definitely not smooth as butter. I even have broken them in on older knives and still running into issues. As mentioned by the original poster I have lots of little pockets in the ceramic, including the sides, which seem to cause some issues. However I am no pro sharpener and lack the experience that many of you have. It seems that if I do not have the paddle perfectly flat up against the blade that it sounds like i'm taking 80 grit right to the edge of the blade and bam all my hard work is ruined by chipping caused by the stones. Is this my fault? Do I just need a more steady hand and practice? I appreciate all the advise so far!
THANKS!

Re: Ceramic Paddles
I have run into the same issue. I also have a lot of chipping occurring on the blade due to the sides of the stones. They helped me get more of a mirror polish but are being a bit rough on my knife. Anyone have any suggestions? Just more break in time?
