Authors Comments:
I inherited this knife from my step father who carried it overseas for many years. It had been hand sharpened for years so it's hard to know what the original angle was. Reprofiling it took some time but it finished up nicely and took a super polish.

Authors Comments:
Reprofiled with 50/80 stones to 17.5 degree on each side. Knife if built like tank and the angle holds through abuse. Used all the stones from 50/80 to 1200/1600, then taped 2500 grit sandpaper to the ceramics. Stropped after all that, finishing with 3.5um for a mirror finish

Authors Comments:
LJM it originally came with a zero degree convex edge which I found was a bit too fine and subject to chipping and rolling; I love the 17 degree angle razor sharp and tough

survival/bushcraft, a good slicer in the kitchen
Authors Comments:
all the ESEE knives are full flat-ground and the blades vary in thickness from the spine to the edge, so they are good slicers but hard to mount in the vise.

Authors Comments:
This has been a controversial knife. The model 1 in some cases had weaknesses but luckily for me my cop was fine. A very sturdy knife with a D-2 tool steel blade that sharpens up incredibly and retains the edge well. It is one of my EDC knives.
